What is disk space and bandwidth?

Each Oikos package comes with a pre-defined amount of disk space. The more files you upload to Oikos, the more disk space you will use. We have given each Oikos enough disk space to accommodate average usage. If you think you may exceed your disk space (by uploading an above-average amount of files) you can purchase more space.

Each time a user views a file in Oikos, their web browser has to download it. If the file is 30 KB in size, then the browser uses 30 KB of bandwidth. We have given each Oikos enough bandwidth to accommodate average usage. Most files (pictures and text) require very little bandwidth, however video and audio files use significantly more. If you think you may exceed your allotted bandwidth you can purchase more.

Each Oikos displays disk space and bandwidth usage in real-time and will alert you if you are approaching your limit. You can check your disk space or bandwidth usage in the administration dialog. You can purchase more disk space or bandwidth by emailing us.

How do I limit what members can do in Oikos?

Click the Oikos administration button in the bottom-right corner of Oikos to open the Oikos administration dialog. Under the member permissions section, you can adjust what members can upload and what members can create.

What are member file upload limits?

These limits allow you to set the maximum file size for photos, videos and audio files. By adjusting these limits you can keep your disk space and bandwidth usage under control. For example, if you wanted to allow members to upload only short videos, you would set the limit no higher than 10 MB.

Can I add a custom message to the welcome email?

Yes. Click the Oikos administration button in the bottom-right corner of Oikos to open the Oikos administration dialog. Under the Customize Welcome Email section, type your custom message. Your message will be included in all welcome emails.
